After The Storm

Nope - No hail! Never in my 30 plus years of gardening have I planted the garden and then had a hailstorm. If there was ever a year to have it happen I guess it would definitely be this one. Why not?
Over the years, no matter the weather and/or forecast, I've trained myself to wait until after Mother's Day to plant my garden. It's been a fairly reliable way to prevent too many disasters, until now - Ugh! Should have seen it coming.
Jamie, the pup, dug up the first go-round of lettuce, kale, chard etc. Oops, been a few years since we've had a puppy. Then, the tomatoes and peppers I ordered (because of Covid-19) got cancelled (because of Covid-19.) Replanted all the lettuce etc. and a dear friend had pepper and tomato starts which she socially-distancedly shared. All in all not a great start to the garden; oh yeah, did I mention we got .63 in of rain in ten minutes and hail.

Could be worse, I guess. Anaheim's got a little torn up but not too bad and the tomatoes are so small that they weathered the storm just fine.
Beats the heck out of no rain which looked like where we were headed. So, it's been a pretty good off-and-on rainy week which is pretty typical in Lincoln County, and we are headed up into the 80's by the end of the week. Things will start to pop now!
Remember those Tomatoes and Peppers I order that got cancelled? Well, guess what showed up? Yep, the whole order!

Know anyone that could use a few extra tomato or pepper starts?
See you in the dirt -
